1. Establishment:
The school was founded by a group of educators in September of 2015 who recognized the need for quality Basic education in Mgbuoba community, NTA road, Port Harcourt.
2. Vision and Mission: The founders developed a vision and mission statement outlining their goals for the school, such as providing a well-rounded education, fostering critical thinking skills, and promoting character development.
3. Infrastructure Development: The school was purpose built ready to receive pupils and over time, facilities such as classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and playground was been improved upon.
4. Curriculum Development:
The school also developed its curriculum, drawing from national and international standards, and tailored it to meet the needs of its students while also incorporating extra-curricular activities and moral values education.
5. Growth and Expansion:
As the school gained reputation and popularity, we experienced growth in student enrollment and expanded our facilities and staff to accommodate the increasing demand for quality education.
In 2019, the school became a Government approved School for Basic Education. This was due to the effort of Staff and Management of the school.
6. Achievements and Challenges: The school would have experienced various milestones, such as academic achievements, participation in competitions, and community outreach programs. However, like many other businesses in 2021, the school along with many others had to close down for several months due to general lockdown proclamations by the government occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
By the time we re-opened, we were faced with challenges such as funding constraints, loss of patronage as a lot of families relocated from town. We also had to adjust to changes in educational policies of the state. It was tough meeting our obligations at the time. We however were able to overcome via our good name and increased goodwill from Parents of our pupils.
7. Community Engagement:
Building strong ties with parents, local educational authorities, and other stakeholders has been essential for the school’s success and sustainability.
Overall, the history of Royal Steps International School starting September 2015 was characterized by a journey of growth, challenges, and various achievements we can be proud of.
